PRODUCTION ESSENTIALS/WHAT YOU NEED TO GET STARTED
STEMS + ACAPELLAS
A stem is only some of the tracks of a song. If you take all of the drum tracks only and mix just those into a stereo submix, it would be the drum stems for the song.
Acapellas are isolated vocal tracks (it also means acapella arrangments where every instrument is performed by a singer but I won't put those here)
(Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is a protocol designed for recording and playing back music on digital synthesizers that is supported by many makes of personal computer sound cards. Originally intended to control one keyboard from another, it was quickly adopted for the personal computer.
((basically it is a file with all of the notes for a song that can be played back with preset instruments (probably not in the original song) or imported to a DAW (digital audio workspace, what you use to make electronic music on a computer) and remixed/chopped up/etc))
